The Cynara chair and dining table and the Solis lounge chair and side table, all shown here, are part of Model No.'s new outdoor collection.
OAKLAND, Calif. – Model No., a company that makes 3D-printed custom furniture, has launched its first outdoor collection.
“As excitement builds for the summer, outdoor dining, BBQs and gatherings will allow many to reconnect with friends and family,” said Phillip Raub, Model No. CEO. “Model No.’s latest collection includes practically designed and sustainably made pieces finally giving customers an eco-friendly option for outdoor entertainment.”
Raub said the new line provides customers with elegant, modern products that are engineered for sustainability and to be able to withstand the elements. Model No.’s method of 3D printing furniture from agricultural waste produces long-lasting, sustainable products that do not damage the environment, according to the company.
The new collection includes the following:
- Cynara chair – Retailing for $429, the Cynara chair has hand-finished hardwood legs and an ergonomic seat, made with high-quality PLA (polylactic acid) which is an upcycled agricultural bi-product that is 3D printed into a shape. Model No. mills the base from sustainably sourced local hardwoods, then they join it, and hand-finish it with organic oils.
- Cynara table – Retailing for $2,249, the Cynara table is a traditional farmhouse style with a modern vibe, Raub said. Milled using high quality, sustainably sourced hardwood and bespoke mortise and tenon joinery, Model No. then hand-finishes the table. The hardwood center panel cover can be removed to add plants, flowers, beverages, or hors d’oeuvres, or the matching hardwood cover can be secured in place for a seamless tabletop experience.
- Solis lounge chair – Retailing for $629, the chair is made from “a rare combination of diverse and sustainable materials in one elegant design,” according to the company. The Solis chair has a classic hardwood base and progressive 3D-printed seat design. Ergonomically engineered for comfort, the chair mills and joins sustainably sourced hardwoods into sturdy legs while the 3D printers use up-cycled agricultural waste to fashion a seat designed to comfort and support diverse body shapes and sizes.
- Solis side table – The table, which retails for $399, “evokes iconic modernist sculpture with its “minimalist design and understated power,” according to the company. The table has a fitted, hand-finished hardwood tray that can be removed to create a comfortable stool and is fully customizable.
Model No. minimizes carbon emissions and toxic byproducts, according to Raub, making the company’s catalog an extremely large eco-friendly offering. Made domestically, all of Model No.’s furnishings are crafted from sustainably sourced materials, such as upcycled food waste, and produced using eco-friendly tech including 3D printing.
