Created especially for Milan, the collection of Alter Ego shows the personality of the over 140-year-old company in a whole new way. The wooden prototypes engage an artistic expression filled with the individuality of the artists. The Polish furniture designers, architects and interior designers who were involved in the production are all creators with very diverse backgrounds and business profiles, which is the reason for which the products express such diversity in form and aesthetics. Designers Agnieszka Pikus, Grzegorz Gancarczyk, Nikodem Szpunar, Ola Mirecka, Jakub Szczęsny, as well as Studio Iskry and the Paged Team designers, are the protagonists of the collection.
‘The name of this year’s concept of our whole the new collection is Alter Ego – simply because a different brand identity is to be revealed. Paged successfully uses the technology of the past, and also boldly creates the future, and brings in new lines as well as an innovative and functional design, both of the systems, technologies, and the furniture itself,’ says Jakub Szczęsny, art director in charge of the Paged Alter Ego 2023 collection Concept.

Imagine an elegant and sophisticated countess – not just a figment of imagination, but an actual creation by Agnieszka Pikus, a designer known for her refined furniture and bathroom ceramics. This entity is named Contessa W., and surprisingly enough, it’s an armchair. The Contessa armchair helps assume a position of full dignity and power. The seating furniture was conceived as an extension of Agnieszka’s prior design, the EVO model for Paged – one of the most distinctive items in the company’s collection.

Fuoco Arancia and Fuoco Blu are live-fired versions of Thonet’s popular chair, featuring a practical engraved accessory for hanging handbags. Designed by Studio Iskry, these adaptations address the issue of storing handbags in elegant spaces – a problem that Paged has just solved.
‘We based it on an old Japanese technique of wood-firing. What we liked most about our attempts was that we were able to bring out the very interesting grain of the wood by tanning it more or less before varnishing it,’ Michal Niedośpiał, Studio Iskry.

Ola Mirecka, renowned for her creative building block sets for a Danish company, as well as her role as a judge in a television competition centered around them, has a love for designs evoking childhood memories. For Paged, Ola tackled her own interpretation of the Thonet chair, once a favorite of modernist architect, Le Corbusier. The Perline chair was enhanced with Ola’s distinctive feminine elements, manifested through a pearl-beige color palette and playful beads adorning the furniture’s railing. These beads are adjustable, allowing the seater to engage in whimsical play by swinging their legs from the seat, until a gentle reminder from a mother highlights the rhythmic tapping might be a bit overwhelming.

Folding chair AXIS is based on Paged’s classic export models from the 1970s. It was designed by Grzegorz Gancarczyk, a designer and constructor who works at the company on a permanent basis. The chair folds into a flat frame thanks to a proprietary patented wooden hinge, which also has a decorative value. The product offers a nostalgic journey, reminiscent of the time when Paged folding chairs were widespread in Polish households, coinciding with the initial broadcast of the Reksio cartoon.
‘The main difficulty during the revamping of my Sudoku model was to satisfy the tastes of the audience. The base, the structure of the model already existed, while the idea was to raise the aesthetic qualities to such a level that one could say it was a premium piece of furniture,’ Grzegorz Gancarczyk.

TAYLORSVILLE, N.C.— Home furnishings manufacturer and retailer Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams closed its doors Saturday and has notified employees of the layoff.
According to a story in the Taylorsville Times, signs were posted on the truck gate and office door of the company’s Taylorsville plant on August 26 announcing the immediate closing as well as the closing of the company’s Hiddenite and Statesville, N.C., plants. Employees were instructed that they should not report to work Monday, August 28, and remote workers were instructed to forgo logging in.
Interim CEO Chris Moye began his leadership role with the company on April 21. According to the Times article, a letter from Moye was also posted on the office door along with the announcement of the closings.
“The purpose of this letter is to provide you with official notice under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN).
“As you may know, the current economic climate has presented significant challenges to the furniture industry. While we have been buoyed by the support of our wonderful employees, like yourself, The Mitchell Gold Co. d/b/a Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams (the “Company”) has recently and unexpectedly learned that we are unable to secure critical financing to continue business operations. In the wake of this unfortunate development, the Company will sadly need to wind down operations and terminate the employment of our employees beginning on August 26, 2023. Because these events were unforeseen, we were unable to provide you and others with more notice of this difficult decision.
“Your position will be affected by these events, and your last day of employment with the Company is expected to be on October 25, 2023, unless you are asked to perform additional services during the 14-day period from that date (or your layoff date is otherwise revised from that date). We are sorry to have to bring you this news.”

KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch is featured in a new promotional video for Furniture City, a furniture store in his former hometown of Bakersfield, California.
The video starts with Welch welcoming viewers to the store before he begins touring the showroom, stopping on the way to admire some of the bedroom furniture, a chandelier and a living room sofa.

Celebrated interior designer Nate Berkus champions all things bouclé in his latest Instagram post. Whilst it's a fabric prized for its chic aesthetic and cozy appeal, Berkus has introduced us to an uncommon design choice: opting to style it in the kitchen.
Taking to Instagram, Berkus shared images of two different Los Angeles kitchens in differing interior styles, both featuring the same set of bouclé trend stools.
The stools promote minimalist kitchen design, combining a sleek black frame with a soft gray, bouclé-upholstered cushioning.
'Bouclé has a femininity to it, it's a tactical fabric that instantly adds warmth and softness and it's easy to see why people are drawn to it,’ explains Melissa Read, Creative Director at interior design studio Studio Burntwood. ‘Luxury fabric houses continue to expand their bouclé collections, with hundreds of different color and texture variations suited to any upholstery or window dressing imaginable.’
Whilst you may think bouclé is a fabric that should be reserved for cozy living room ideas and bedroom ideas, Berkus makes a case for incorporating the luxurious fabric into the kitchen; an intriguing design choice. ‘It’s important to find pieces for clients that stand the test of time and can work in new spaces as they move, like these stools,’ Berkus writes in the post’s caption, making reference to the longevity of the furniture piece.
Read also vows to the fabric’s surprisingly resilient nature, explaining: ‘Despite its subtle appearance, bouclé is typically made of wool and can be extremely hardwearing and durable.’
