The New Raw 3D Prints Sculptural, Multifunctional Furniture - Design Milk

sedar.indah.link

Rotteram-based design studio The New Raw has found a new way to push the boundaries of 3D printing with Stratum, a sculptural, geological-inspired, 18 meters long piece of furniture designed for the entrance or lobby of commercial spaces. Stratum’s undulating form already generates intrigue at first glance. Upon closer inspection, it’s revealed that the monolithic piece serves multiple purposes, all of which ebb and flow into each other.

Unlike other multifunctional furniture that often has to be rearranged in order to meet different needs, Stratum provides many solutions while remaining static. It serves as bench seating, provides a tabletop for sit-down work, curves upwards to become a standing-height desk, and curves its ends into itself to become planters for greenery.

To create Stratum, The New Raw transformed 700kg of plastic waste into a material suitable for 3D printing. Similar to the natural layers of fossil sediment found in nature, Stratum has many ridges made from layering the material. The layers of grey are randomly added in and are inspired by supermarket stacking crates, a reference for this particular client. However, because of the nature of its design and construction, Stratum can be custom-designed to maximize function in any environment, including office settings, reception areas, waiting rooms, and hospitality spaces like bars, cafes, and restaurants.

This New Aluminum Outdoor Furniture Has a Pillowy Soft Spin - Domino

sedar.indah.link

We may earn revenue from the products available on this page and participate in affiliate programs.

We’ve come to consider Neighbor as a top resource for teak outdoor furniture. Everything from the Arizona-based purveyor, from loungers to dining tables to Adirondack chairs, is made with the durable, mildew-resistant, weather-ready wood. That is, until now: Since the brand’s debut in 2020, cofounder and CEO Nick Arambula says that customers have been requesting their designs in a different, low-maintenance material. The aluminum Terra collection, which drops today, is exactly what they’ve been asking for.

The expansive launch consists of nine fully modular pieces—all framed in powder-coated metal. But the look and feel, Arambula offers, is decidedly soft rather than big and boxy. “One of the primary things we wanted to do with this collection was to make sure it was incredibly comfortable, like a pillow top,” says Arambula. “We wanted to increase the size and plushness and give it a tapered edge.”

While still relatively new to the DTC outdoor furniture realm, Neighbor has already made a name for itself with its Haven line, one that Arambula describes as “modern with very clean lines.” Terra doesn’t veer too far from that original script; the matte foundation prioritizes looks and is equally resistant to the elements. But it’s still plenty different. For starters, the frame is slightly slimmer, with curvier edges, and the seats are nearly two times bigger. The anti-slip bottom cushions are stuffed with even more of the same quick-drying foam that Haven has, and the backrests feature a softer fiberfill.

Those cloudlike cushions boast an exclusive stain-resistant and fade-proof Sunbrella fabric, developed in collaboration with Neighbor and made from 20% recycled materials. While all of Neighbor’s pieces are covered in Sunbrella, those in the Terra line are the only ones in which all three color choices (putty, charcoal, and olive) include yarn made from postindustrial waste. From far away, the look is decidedly monochromatic, but Arambula explains things are more interesting when you get up close and personal with the products. “There’ll be little specks of black fabric which, to me, give a super-unique look,” he adds. “Nothing is exactly the same.”

Pick out your cushy chair or sofa, and all that’s left to add is a teeny side table for your book or beverage of choice.

‘FOLLOW’ MARA TO THE MEETING TABLE

Meeting and relationship are the center of the project with the Follow Meeting collection of round tables, which find their place in contemporary living spaces thanks to their aesthetic cleanliness and curvilinear design. The primary quality of the line is the exclusive and patented height adjustability of the top (with the simple touch of a handle), which allows a desirable working position with also offering the opportunity to transform the dining function into a cocktail bar.

This also applies to the Follow Meeting Large model, which is characterized not only by its large, adjustable table top (up to 3000 mm), but also by its double steel base. The wide range of colors and finishes allows the entire collection to be customized in multiple combinations.

The sit-stand tables collection is enriched with Follow Meeting Cone, which softens the central column with a conical base, designed also for residential spaces. More compact, but just as dynamic, is Follow Me. Conceived as a travel trolley, the multitasking table varies its nature depending on its location whether used as a console table at the entrance, desk for the home office or writing desk for the sleeping area. Space-saving and height-adjustable, it facilitates everyday activities with practicality and a discreet presence, especially thanks to the wheels that make it so easy to move.

the ‘libro’ space-saving collection of tables

The Libro table series is the highlight of the space-saving table ranges that includes Argo, Timmy, and Savio Compact. Available in a wide range of sizes, the series is characterized by its mechanical locking system which, together on castors makes the product easy to maneuverable. The tables can be placed in small rooms and once stored, allow more space to be obtained. Moreover, the products are smart and safe to use thanks to Mara’s patented anti-shock system that protects users’ hands while opening/closing.

boundary-pushing range ‘icon’

Seating collection Icon is realized with the creative contribution of Marcello Ziliani and conceived with a transversal identity to fluidly cross hospitality as much as residential. With refined aesthetics, the series encompasses comfort thanks to a wide and soft cushioning made of molded foam. Further comfort is added thanks to the movement of the backrest that is detached from the seat, thus offering an ergonomic reinterpretation of traditional cockpit seating. Overall, Icon represents the outcome of in-depth research and experimentation carried out by the company to push the boundaries of design and explore new spaces and uses.

The Citizenry's Heirloom Bed Collection Marks The Brand's Foray Into Custom Furniture - The Zoe Report

sedar.indah.link

Already known for its artisanal, hand-made decor, The Citizenry is now making moves into a new category: custom furniture. With its latest launch of the Heirloom Bed Collection — made-to-order upholstered beds — the brand is looking to provide a chic, more sustainable solution to fast furniture and to celebrate all things slow and well-crafted.

“For years our customers have asked us to create furniture so they could bring the entire Citizenry look into their homes,” says The Citizenry co-founder Carly Nance in an emailed interview with TZR. “The Heirloom Bed Collection is our first collection of large, custom furniture and marks the beginning of a robust product pipeline that we'll release throughout the year. These beds are the output of years of work and a significant step towards realizing our vision of becoming a whole-home brand and go-to destination for discerning, modern global citizens.”

The new offering consists of three bed styles — the Drift, Laurel, and Ridge beds — which can be customized to your liking, with options of up to 11 different fabric swatches and two wood accents and prices ranging from $2,595 to $5,895. While the brand typically enlists the help of artisans all over the world for its unique goods, this is the first line crafted in the US. “Every piece is made-to-order in a small, eight-person workshop in Hickory, North Carolina,” she explains. “The community is known for using the best local woods sourced from nearby forests and handcrafting pieces that will stand the test of time.”

Indeed, customers can rest assured that each person working on a bed order is a specialist, “from the framer to the fabric cutter to the upholsterer,” adds Nance. “The end result is a true investment piece made to move from home to home.”

The new Heirloom Bed Collection is available to order on The Citizenry’s website. And be sure to be on the lookout for more additions to the brand’s custom furniture category. It’s sure to be a hit. In the meantime, give your bedroom a spring refresh with the three new bed styles below.

The best patio furniture from Amazon: Sectionals, patio sets, umbrellas and more - USA TODAY

Police investigating Bucks County furniture company A&A Custom Furniture after numerous complaints - WPVI-TV

sedar.indah.link

MEDIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- The Action News Troubleshooters are looking into complaints against a custom furniture company in Bucks County that connected with most of its customers on Facebook.

Police are investigating A&A Custom Furniture and owners Austin and Amanda Smallacombe. Their business address is in Perkasie, Bucks County, but they marketed to customers all over via Facebook.

"Their Facebook page kept popping up in my feed and I noticed that a few friends liked the page. So I started looking at it," said Kelly McCluskey of Media, Delaware County.

Last spring McCluskey ordered a dining table, chairs, and barstools. She paid a deposit of $2,000.

Hannah Hubbard, of Bethlehem, Connecticut, paid a deposit of $1,550.

"I ordered a dining room table, six chairs and a bench," said Hubbard.

Both consumers say the Smallacombes gave multiple excuses about why their furniture wasn't delivered.

McCluskey says she started a Facebook page after she found so many other unhappy consumers.

"This is so outrageous that this man is doing this to many of us," she said.

In the end, Hubbard never got her furniture.

"He promised me my money would be returned within 10 days. I never heard from him again," she said.

McCluskey never got the chairs she paid for, and while she did finally get the extension table, she says the workmanship was so poor she gave it away.

"It didn't match up. One of the sides was warped. It was, like, scratched on site. It was just, it was terrible. It was a mess," she said.

Bucks County detectives, along with Newtown, Hilltown, and Bedminster Township police departments, are investigating A&A Custom Furniture and the Smallacombes, warning "numerous victims did not receive the furniture they ordered."

And the Troubleshooters have learned at least one person has won a judgment against A&A Custom Furniture for $2,800.

"It's a very bad feeling getting scammed. It's never happened to me before," said Hubbard.

McCluskey ended up getting her money back through her credit card company, but says she is speaking out to warn others.

"Many of the women in our group paid in cash in full and are getting nothing. So if some way they can be helped, I would feel a lot better about it," she said.

Hubbard is one of the customers who paid in cash. So this reminder: pay for big purchases with a credit card and never pay more than half up front.

The Troubleshooters did reach out to A&A Custom Furniture but never got a response.

Police are also looking for other victims.

Corte Madera bookstore to close, with furniture retailer moving in - Marin Independent Journal

sedar.indah.link

Barnes and Noble Booksellers, a fixture at the Town Center Corte Madera mall, plans to leave after more than 15 years at the site, and Arhaus, a home furniture company, is preparing to move into the space.

The bookstore has plans to close its shop at 313 Corte Madera Town Center after March 12, said Janine Flanigan, the company’s director of store planning and design. Flanigan said its lease with the mall, situated on the west side of Highway 101, has come to an end.

“We would love to continue to be in that area, but there is not an opportunity for us to stay there,” Flanigan said. “It’s a great market and we’re actively looking for a new location.”

The company’s real estate team hopes to find a retail space in Marin County in time to open business by the end of the year, Flanigan said.

Meanwhile, a plan to remodel the store at 313 Corte Madera Town Center is under review.

Last week, the Planning Commission voted 4-0, with Margaret Bandel absent, to continue the meeting to its March 14 session. The commission asked for several modifications to the plan, which the Arhaus application team said it will work on.

Tenant improvements at Town Center could typically be handled administratively. However, the plan involves what town planners classify as major exterior renovation, elevating the proposal to Planning Commission review.

The 27,744-square-foot store is at the southeastern corner of the mall, next to Crate and Barrel, facing the freeway. It has been occupied by Barnes and Noble since 2006. Before that, Marshalls had operated within the space for nearly two decades.

The project proposes to redesign the Mediterranean-style Barnes and Noble building with a more contemporary Arhaus style. The plan calls for removing a ramp entering from the left front of the store, and replacing it with an outdoor furniture space.

A key feature to the project is the series of rectangular arches that are elevated above the roofline.

Commissioners agreed that they preferred a second alternative that was presented where all the arches were lowered, except the one above the entrance.

Commissioners said they want the brown corten material to only be used behind the brand signs, rather than dispersed throughout the façade. On the courtyard facing side, the commission suggested using smaller signs for a more pedestrian-friendly feel.

Commissioners also suggested that the applicant seek energy efficient ratings with LEED-certification and said landscaping should be drought resistant. The certification stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.

The applicant said it is agreeable to the design changes and would explore its ability to obtain LEED certification.

Commissioners asked whether solar improvements could be made as part of the Arhaus renovation.

Monty Stephens, general manager of the mall, said that he has a few proposals that would be brought to the town separately.

“It’s incumbent on upon the center to figure out how to go solar,” said Peter Chase, chair of the commission. “It’s coming in one way or another. It’s just got to be part of everybody’s program.”

More information on the project is at townofcortemadera.org.

Nikkee Edmiston, director of real estate for Arhaus, said the company has more than 80 stores across the nation.

“We have many projects planned over the next couple of years and we are excited to continue sharing our brand with Corte Madera,” Edmiston said.

The mall, which was built in 1958, has has several tenant developments of late.

Anthem, another home furnishing store, has set up shop there. Furniture sales “is a very strong category for us and that’s one of the main reasons,” Stephens said of the addition. That is seconded only by food sales, he said.

Safeway Corte Madera is undergoing a major store remodel, which is expected to be completed in April.

Roam Artisan Burgers is set to open this fall at the La Maison space next to Urban Outfitters.
