Penacook Furniture Business Building Destroyed By Fire: Watch - Patch

CONCORD, NH — A fire at a furniture store in Penacook went to two alarms on Monday.

Concord and Boscawen firefighters, as well as emergency medical services, were sent to the Furniture Clearance Outlet at 181 Village St. around 2:45 a.m. for a building fire. The building serves as one of Cheney Applehouse Furniture’s businesses. Capital Area Mutual Aid Fire Compact dispatch reported a resident on Lilac Street first reported the fire and Concord police also confirmed.

The first arriving firefighter reported fire inside the building, and the firefighters began stretching hoses to bring water from hydrants to the fire. Mutual aid was requested from the Loudon tower truck team and Hopkinton EMS just before 3 a.m.

Firefighters eventually had multiple fire lines attacking the fire from all sides of the building. The commander said there was “significant fire in the building.”

A second alarm was requested just before 3:15 a.m. This sent firefighters into Concord from the Bow engine, Chichester rescue, Hooksett engine, Loudon Engine 2, and Pembroke engine.

Coverage for mutual aid was also requested from the Epsom engine, Goffstown tower, Hopkinton engine, Tilton engine, and the Penacook rescue team.

Firefighters are still at the scene.

The building was constructed in 1890, according to the city’s online assessment database.
