HICKORY, N.C. –Sherrill Furniture Co. hired Sydney Wells as director of marketing and Jim Morgan as art director for marketing in a bid to up the ante on the company’s digital presence.
“Our company is undertaking a number of strategic growth initiatives including the digital transformation of our communications and selling processes” said Thad Monroe, president. “We are very excited to land two great hires that will help accelerate this change and deliver a best-in-class digital experience for our customers.”
Both Wells and Morgan will report to Dax Allen, vice president of marketing. Wells is tasked with growing Sherrill’s online presence as well as developing the company’s content strategy and leading its creative development. Morgan will be responsible for the design and execution of print and digital marketing communications across the company.
“The things I see happening here at Sherrill Furniture over the past two years are amazing, and I’m excited to add two very talented, experienced leaders to the marketing team. The work our team is doing will redefine the experience of custom furniture and empower the creativity of our customers,” said Dax Allen, vice president of marketing.
Wells will head a new influencer marketing program. She will develop and execute strategies to engage end-users, interior designers and trade professionals with brand experiences and services and deliver added value across the user’s journey. In addition, Wells will manage all print marketing, press requests and event planning to create a consistent omnichannel experience for Sherrill’s brands and customers.
Morgan is expected to advance a unique, consistent aesthetic for each brand in Sherill’s portfolio, and will create imagery to elevate the perception of the company’s brands among consumers and the trade.
Morgan received his training at the Pratt Institute before moving to publishing in 1998 and spending the next 10 years leading creative design and writing for large national magazines. Morgan moved to Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams in 2010 and spent a decade there as the senior creative director leading the design and creative teams.
Wells completed her business and marketing education at University of North Carolina Wilmington and spent the next decade building her digital marketing expertise in the sports marketing and digital agency arena. Over the last four years, Wells led marketing for Theodore Alexander, revamping the company’s social presence, developing a new mobile-responsive website, as well as directing all digital, print and in-person marketing activities for the brand.
