New Classic unveils its first Mexico-produced upholstery and bedroom collections at the Las Vegas Market.
FONTANA, Calif. — New Classic Furniture has historically sourced from countries including China, Vietnam, India and Turkey. But a major new initiative has it setting its sights much closer to its U.S. customers.
The company is now sourcing out of Mexico, having recently unveiled two new master bedroom collections as well as a collection of stationary upholstery out of the country.
“Production in Mexico has been a big help in terms of quicker delivery and production allowing customers to truly forecast out their needs with a reliable time frame for delivery,” said Scott Hill, president of sales and marketing.
To get product out, New Classic has linked up with several production facilities across different Mexican cities. Finding those factories was key, said Hill.
“The biggest challenge in getting set up in Mexico is finding reliable factories that have state-of-the-art equipment and are able to handle the amount of business we were offering them,” he explained. “There were a lot of smaller facilities, but they couldn’t handle the capacity we needed to take care of our customers and our warehouses.”
Hill noted that New Classic has more product in the pipeline from Mexico as well, and he plans to visit the company’s Mexico factories to inspect more new product in coming weeks. The goal, he explained, is to introduce two or three more bedroom collections at the upcoming High Point Market, April 2-6.
“I don’t see any reason not to stay in Mexico for the foreseeable future as Asia continues to be in flux and freight continues to be questionable at best,” said Hill.
But it isn’t just Mexico. With the global supply chain seeing widespread disruption Hill indicated that New Classic is looking to diversify even further.
“We have already started sourcing other countries over the past year with product coming in from multiple countries in Europe,” he said.
Both of the company’s new Mexican case goods lines — the Domingo and Chadwick master bedroom collections — ship within 30 days and retail from $999 to $1,299.
