WOOD RIVER, Neb. (KSNB) - Wood River High School’s theater was the host site for the Hall County Spelling Bee Tuesday. The bee brought out more than 70 students from schools across Hall County.
The students ranged in grades from fifth grade all the way up to eighth grade. All the spellers had to take a written test to qualify for the oral portion of the contest.
Wood River Elementary Principal Kelly Klanecky coordinated the entire event. She told Local4 News seeing that many students compete in the contest was encouraging.
“We have a lot of different size schools across Hall County so everywhere from the large schools in Grand Island to the small schools that are represented - it’s fun to get all of the kids together and just have them compete,” Klanecky said.
This was Klanecky’s third year planning and coordinating the spelling bee.
