A 48-year-old man was killed after he was sucked into a wood chipper while working at a Michigan home on Tuesday morning, a report said.
Investigators believed the horrific scene unfolded when the man’s jacket got stuck on a branch that was being fed into the machine outside the house in West Bloomfield, Fox 2 reported, citing police.
The unidentified man was among a crew of three workers at the site.
One of the man’s colleagues made the grim discovery.
The co-worker called 911 and “said [the man] had been found inside of a wood chipper,” Deputy Chief Curt Lawson, of the West Bloomfield Police Department, told reporters at a press briefing.
The worker was initially conscious when paramedics arrived, but he died while being transported to the hospital.
As part of their investigation, police are working to determine if the wood chipper malfunctioned.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the dead worker.
