Hello and happy Saturday.
Alex Wood is returning to the San Francisco Giants tonight as they take on the Atlanta Braves in the second game of a three-game series. You might have forgotten about Wood a little bit, since he’s been out for a while now due to a case of COVID-19, and lots of exciting things have been going on in Giants-land, giving us all short term memories.
Alex Wood will start on Saturday. Johnny Cueto might throw a live batting practice on the 27th or 28th, which would at least leave open the slight possibility he could pitch the final weekend of the season in a short stint.

Wood last pitched on Aug. 26, and on the year has a 4.08 ERA and 3.71 FIP, with 135 strikeouts to 39 walks in 125.2 innings. He’s been consistently solid all year, rarely being great but rarely being awful, either. In 23 starts, he’s allowed five or more earned runs just twice — but allowed no runs just once, in his first start of the year.
