Exhibits at the Milan furniture fair will be available to designers and buyers on a year round basis thanks to new digital platform

MILAN – Organizers of Salon del Mobile have launched a digital platform they say will allow the industry to access content surrounding the event 365 days a year.

The platform, https://www.salonemilano.it, offers visitors, designers, retailers and wholesalers alike a digital product showcase that complements the physical show, slated for Sept. 5-10 at the Rho Fairgrounds in Milan.

“The pandemic has been the greatest digital accelerator in history,” said Riccardo Luna, a journalist who shared his views about the platform as part of a panel announcing the recent launch. “We have all learned how to do things we previously didn’t do and discovered that digital is a formidable tool for resilience. Now that we are cautiously emerging from the pandemic, the world is no longer the same as it was, we are entering a new, hybrid world in which the physical and the digital realms coexist, boosting each other and furthering their opportunities. This is the direction in which the Salone del Mobile platform is heading.”

The platform offers visitors a glimpse by category – from case goods and upholstery to kitchen furniture, office furniture and outdoor furnishings – highlighting various products available from manufacturers participating in the show.

There are also profiles and insights from well-known designers as well as an A-to-Z listing of brands. In addition, the site offers an overview of major exhibits at the show such as the International Furnishings Accessories Exhibition, Workplace 3.0 and Euro Cucina, a segment focusing on designs for the kitchen, to name a few.

Organizers said content will be updated several times a day, offering a “cross-cutting focus on design, furnishing, art, architecture, science and technology.”

The platform also allows companies to showcase their latest products in an interactive format that includes virtual showrooms, breakout rooms and digital contact channels that will allow “immediate and fruitful exchange with their targets before, during and after the fair.”

The platform will also help attendees organize their visits by planning appointments ahead of time, thus serving as a tool to help them navigate the show in an efficient manner.

“The new digital platform marks a major step change for the Salone del Mobile.Milano and provides a sophisticated digital experience, the cornerstone of which is precisely the mix of physical and online,” said Marco Sabetta, General Manager of the Salone del Mobile.Milano. “It’s a business tool for the companies and a virtual harvester of beauty, value and quality, a virtual space for sharing interpretations of the design and innovation world, allowing for a glimpse of the future of the sector and nurturing it with visions and possibilities”

Annalisa Rosso, editorial director of the project, added, “This is a joint project that brings together the many different voices and identities that have always made up an incredible network: the companies and their products, the sectoral magazines, the professionals from all over the world and the design aficionados. The coming together of these international entities and the interactive exchange will fuel ideas and opportunities that, just as they do at the fair, make the Salone a unique and unmissable appointment.”
