Brayden Wood comes to Kansas State after a great four-year career at Fairview High School in Boulder, Colorado. He was a four-year starter at defensive tackle for the Knights coached by Tom McCartney.

Wood was rated as the 55th best strongside defensive end in the country by Rivals as a prospect but will play defensive tackle for the Wildcats. ESPN rated him as the No. 4 player in Colorado in the 2021 class.

In 2020, he was an honorable mention All-American by Sports Illustrated and a preseason All-State pick by Colorado Prep Report.

He finished his senior season tallying 58 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss and three sacks in only seven games. That performance earned him First Team All-State, a third straight All-Conference honor. Wood was also named conference MVP and BoCoPrep.com Defensive Player of the Year.

Wood was extremely productive in 2019 as well, tallying 116 tackles and 18 tackles for a loss. He was named to the Second Team All-State, Defensive Lineman of the Year by Colorado Prep Report and First Team All-Region. His prep career concluded with him tallying 292 tackles.

Wood announced his commitment decision to join K-State on June 15, 2020, with a video on his Twitter.

His father, Brent Wood, also played football in college at Baylor. His uncle, Ryan Wood, played football at Arizona State and was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1996.

Brayden Wood picked the Wildcats over Arizona State, Boise State, Colorado State, Hawaii, Louisville, Missouri, Syracuse, Texas Tech, UNLV and Washington State.

Wood is one of five members of the 2021 recruiting class to enroll early at K-State, joining wide receiver Brenen Hawkins, linebacker DaVonte Pritchard, tackle Austin Weiner and quarterback Jake Rubley.
