HIGH POINT – Luxury case goods and upholstery manufacturer Vanguard Furniture is expanding its custom Make it Yours case goods program this market with a mix of new drawer face and hardware options.
The Conover, N.C.- based manufacturer is adding nine new drawer faces and 23 new hardware designs, ranging from knobs and back plates to pulls, pendants and bars.
The drawer faces include channeled, criss cross, French, fret, geo, mitered, modern Greek key, neoclassical and Palm Beach. These bring the total number of drawer face options in the case goods segment to more than 30.
There are also now more than 100 hardware designs, offering designers and upscale dealers alike the chance to broaden the aesthetic of a single item in many different ways.
In addition to brushed nickel, satin brass and antique brass finishes, the company has added stone, marble, crystal, enamel, shagreen and acrylic materials for the knobs. There also are five new back-plate patterns including floral, bamboo, radial, bloom and star.
Company President Andy Bray said that the company’s merchandising team also discovered a washing technique during a trip to Italy that resulted in seven new finishes. These also were developed by examining best-selling fabrics in the line as well as trending fabrics at Showtime, focusing on specific color tones and experimenting with saturation levels to create the washed finish palette. The company said these all work well with white wood species such as maple, oak, ash and primavera.
Bray said Vanguard took time from the postponement of the April market to develop these and other initiatives, including additions to its Ease custom upholstery line.
“We worked inside of existing programs like MIY bedroom, where with small additions and option changes, we can ship product using existing inventory and not have to stress an industry-wide supply chain that is already reeling from a pandemic crunch,” Bray said.
“Not only did we edit our June additions to reflect meaningful aesthetic choices, but we also looked towards material sourcing we believe will flow quickly in these resource and supply challenged times. Other products, like additions to Ease were designed to move quickly through our production process.”
The company, which shows at 301 N. Hamilton St. downtown, also is adding more than 90 new fabrics and leathers to its lineup, bringing it to more than 1,400, about half of which are performance fabrics.
“The primary reason people come to market is to see new things, and Vanguard will not disappoint,” Bray said. “It is our goal to make Vanguard the “must-see” showroom in High Point. We are fresher and more innovative than ever. It is the one place that you cannot miss because it is such an exciting assault on the senses.”
