
Track and Field Colonels Compete at Louisville's Clark Wood Invitational
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University track and field teams competed at Louisville's Clark Wood Invitational this weekend at Cardinal Park.
Junior Jeanne Reix Charat finished seventh in the women's 5,000 metrers with a personal-best 17:09.08. That time currently ranks No. 3 in the OVC. Freshman Nerea Izcue also recorded an OVC top-10 time at the meeting, placing 12th in 17:53.1 (No. 9 in the conference).
Freshman Anouk van Gils and junior Saskia Pingpank were two of four runners to break the stadium record in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase on Saturday. Van Gils took third in the race with a personal-best 10:55.24. That time puts her at No. 3 in the OVC. Pingpank finished fourth in 11:00.8.
Senior Hannah Cook recorded a personal-best toss of 150-7 in the hammer throw. That mark ranks No. 2 all-time at EKU.
The track and field Colonels will split between multiple meets next weekend.
