Roll & Hill’s new furniture line includes pieces such as the Sit, Set chair; the Lexington table and the Taper low stool.
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Design and manufacturing company Roll & Hill has added a new furniture line to its list of offerings.
The company, which has focused on lighting for 10 years, acquired decades-old furniture manufacturing company Alexis Manufacturing Co. in Grand Rapids, Mich., earlier this year. That company, which has been in business for 75 years, is known for producing wood components and seating.
“We are taking Roll & Hill’s design sensibility and marrying it with the expertise of a heritage furniture company,” said Jason Miller, Roll & Hill founder.
Miller, who launched the company in 2010, has spent the past decade creating design-focused lighting for American homes. His team works with established and emerging designers to provide them with the manufacturing expertise to bring their designs to the marketplace.
The initial furniture launch for Roll & Hill includes nine pieces designed by Karl Zahn, Jason Miller and Campagna. These pieces include the Taper low, counter and bar stools; the Lexington table; the Lafayette bedside table and dresser; the Cross Bar table; the Three Plane chair and the Sit, Set chair.
Most of the pieces are available in hard maple, white oak or black walnut. The stools retail for between $1,000 and $2,450 depending on size. The tables retail for between $5,200 and $15,400 and the chairs retail for between $2,600 and $6,900.
Miller said Roll & Hill has continued to fulfill Alexis Manufacturing’s contract business and keep all the company’s craftspeople and furniture makers on board. At the same time, according to Miller, the acquisition allows Roll & Hill to apply the same vertical manufacturing approach to furniture that it’s done with lighting.
The company plans to add new furniture pieces and partner with designers such as Jenna Lyons later in the year.
