Two charged with auto theft in Wood River - Alton Telegraph

EDWARDSVILLE — Two people were charged in the theft of a 2020 Kia Optima in Wood River, among a number of felony charges filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office Tuesday.

Cody L. Wright, 26, of Wood River, and Kaitlyn N. Robinson, 34, of Bunker Hill, were both charged March 9 with one count of offenses relating to motor vehicles, both Class 2 felonies.

The cases were presented by the Wood River Police Department.

According to court documents, on March 6 the two allegedly were found to be in possession of a stolen 2020 Kia Optima.

Bail was set at $50,000 each.

Other felony charges filed March 9 include:

• Charles R. Carter, 35, of Alton, was charged with retail theft over $300, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. According to court documents, on Dec. 12 Carter allegedly took alcohol and cigarettes valued at more than $300 from Hit-N=Run, 1818 Washington Avenue. Bail was set at $10,000.

• Jo Ann Kelley, 46, of Alton, was charged with retail theft under $300 (second subsequent offense), a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. On Dec. 28 Kelly allegedly took a bottle of Fireball alcohol valued at less than $300 from the Alton Schnucks, 2811 Homer Adams Parkway. It was noted she had a prior conviction in 2015 for retail theft out of Madison County. Bail was set at $10,000.

• Anna J. Barham, 39, of Alton, was charged with retail theft over $300, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Wood River Police Department. On Jan. 7 Barham allegedly took beauty products and clothing valued at more than $300 from the Wood River Walmart, 610 Wesley. Bail was set at $30,000.

• Joi C. Lewis, 41, of St. Louis, was charged with forgery, a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Wood River Police Department. On Dec. 18 Lewis allegedly presented a bad check to Busey Bank. Bail was set at $30,000.

• Eric D. Pack, 33, of Granite City, was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. On March 8 Pack allegedly was found to be in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine. Bail was set at $3,000.

• Billie J. Cottle, 28, of Granite City, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. On March 8 Cottle allegedly was found to be in possession of less than 15 grams of methadone. Bail was set at $3,000.

• Trina G. Skelton, 40, of East Alton, was charged with criminal damage to property over $500, a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. On Jan. 21 Skelton allegedly slashed four tires on a 1995 Dodge Ram, inflicting more than $500 damage. Bail was set at $10,000.
