Gardner -White’s exclusive new Detroit Furniture collection, including the Marisol sectional, is made in the U.S.
WARREN, Mich. — Gardner-White, a leading furniture and mattress store in Michigan, has launched an exclusive new Detroit Furniture collection.
“We’ve had the frames on the floor for less than a month, and the response has been terrific,” said Rachel Tronstein Stewart, Gardner-White president. “As the only family-owned furniture retailer in Detroit, which has been open since 1912, we wanted to honor that heritage with this new collection that’s made in America.”
The company partnered with Mississippi-based Max Home to create the collection, which has been in the works for at least half a year. It includes a total of four frames. The first one called Marisol has been rolled out, with the other three frames following shortly, according to Gardner-White buyer Lindsay Loprest.
“We offer performance fabrics on some of the frames, along with exquisite tailoring and timeless design,” Loprest said. “There are many arm styles, configurations and multiple SKU’s available along with custom-order capabilities and more than 360 fabric combinations.”
The new collection, which currently has a one-month lead time, includes accent chairs and sectionals and also features premium cushion construction and deep seating, with pricing for the line ranging from $1,299 to $3,499.
“The fabric for this collection definitely stands up to use,” Loprest added. “We know pets and kids will also likely be using the furniture, so we knew we needed fabric choices that would be beautiful but also resilient over time.”
Both Stewart and Loprest said that performance fabrics are really resonating with consumers, with functionality and durability becoming more important during the pandemic than it was before, since people are spending more time at home.
Although overall furniture demand has been constant for the retailer since last May, the company said it’s done a good job of keeping up.
“We are more in stock than many others in the industry right now,” Stewart said. “We didn’t cancel a single order over the course of the pandemic, and that has really helped. I think the worst thing you can do is plan like you did in the past. With all this uncertainty, it’s really important to be able to pivot.”
