WASHINGTON – The Handicraft and Wood Industry Assn. of Ho Chi Minh City is hosting a webinar the evening of March 4 that will address topics of interest to Vietnam’s wood furniture sector.
The program includes a presentation from Tom Russell, senior editor of case goods and global sourcing at Furniture Today. He will discuss challenges and opportunities in the U.S. furniture industry that have evolved during the pandemic. This will include an overview of industry growth projections along with categories that represent areas of opportunity for overseas wood furniture and upholstery manufacturers.
Julie Hundersmarck, a U.S. Forest Service International Programs Illegal Logging Program specialist, will give a brief presentation that provides an overview of the U.S. Forest Service and the support it provides to other U.S. Government agencies developing global policies and trade.
And Dorothy Wayson, a senior regulatory policy specialist with the United States Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and a national program manager for the Lacey Act Program, will discuss various developments, amendments and declaration requirements of the Lacey Act.
The webinar starts at 9 p.m. EST and will last about two hours. It takes place at 9 a.m. March 5, in Vietnam, reflecting the 12 hour time difference.
