The Lakers had very little trouble with the Rockets on Sunday, but that doesn’t mean LeBron James hasn’t noticed what Christian Wood’s been doing.
In the third quarter of the Lakers’ 120-102 win in Houston, James took a moment before shooting a free throw to single out the Rockets’ big man to teammate Marc Gasol.

You can’t hear James in the video posted to Twitter by Rob Perez, but if you’re reading lips you can see after he points at Wood on the block, he tells Gasol, “Hold him. Hold his a--. Guy is trouble.”
The 6-foot-10 Wood appears to be the steal of the offseason. The Rockets got the 25-year-old in a sign-and-trade with the Pistons. Wood has a three-year deal worth $41 million.
He’s scored at least 20 points in each of his seven games this season, averaging 23.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. It’s a huge leap for Wood, who had his best season a year ago when he averaged 13 and 6 with the Pistons.
Wood and the Rockets get another shot at the Lakers on Tuesday night at Toyota Center.
