The Rockets will be more shorthanded than expected for their preseason opener against the Chicago Bulls tonight.
In addition to playing without James Harden, whose late arrival for training camp limits him to individual workouts until next week, Rockets center Christian Wood will sit out Friday’s game against the Bulls, a person with knowledge of the situation said.
Wood, the Rockets’ top free agent addition, is out with a sore elbow, a problem that the individual familiar with the situation said is “a minor issue.” Wood has been in the Rockets practices throughout the week.
The Rockets are also without forward P.J. Tucker, who remained in Houston after joining workouts this week, and forward/guard Sterling Brown, who was in NBA testing protocols this week.
