Peggy Lou Bell Wood, 76, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at Rachel Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Wiles officiating. Mrs. Wood will lie-in-state from noon to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wood was born July 16, 1944, in Wilkes County to John Conrad and Opal Mae Caudill Bell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Conrad and Opal Mae Caudill Bell Alexander and step-father, Eli Clyde Alexander.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Wood of the home; a son, Marty Glenn Wood and fiancé, Reba Church, of North Wilkesboro; a daughter, Joyce Robin Wood Griffin and husband, Charles, of North Wilkesboro; six grandchildren, Dawn Rodriguez, Charlie Monroe Griffin, Joy Marie Griffin, Brandi Davlos, Christian Faith Wood Johnson and Marty Ryan Wood; 18 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Patsy Mae Davis and husband, Doug, of North Wilkesboro, Betty Billings and husband, Fred, of Elkin, Norma Barlow of North Wilkesboro and Wanda Foster of Elkin.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Tri State Children’s Home, P.O. Box 888, Bristol, Tenn., 37621 or to Ebenezer Christian Children’s Home, P.O. Box 2177, North Wilkesboro, N.C., 28659.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Pipes, James Wingler, Ryan Wood, Jeremy Bullard, Ricky Lawrence and Jeffrey Wood
