When the Rockets season opens Wednesday, center Christian Wood will do something he never has in his previous four NBA seasons. He will start the season opener. Nothing about his attitude, Wood said, will change.
“I’m still going to grind,” Wood, who started 16 games with the 76ers, Bucks, Hornets, Pelicans and Pistons, said. “I still have a chip on my shoulder. I still was undrafted. There were 30 teams that didn’t take a chance on me. I keep that same mindset.
“This is my first time going into a season being a starting guy and being one of the guys the team is going to be counting on going into the season. I have to show up. I’m going to be ready. I’m going to bring it. I can’t wait to start the season.”
