ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- The 2020 edition of the International Wood: The Guide to Applications, Sources and Trends (IW 2020) focuses on responses to Covid-19 from new sourcing methods to virtual showrooms and all points along the supply chain.
The publication also highlights the latest applications from enhancing acoustics in theaters, hand-crafted fly-fishing nets, luxury beach resorts and more. The International Wood Products Association has unveiled its latest issue in both a hybrid print and an innovative virtual publication.
“In order to be successful in this rapidly changing Covid-19 world, you must be nimble and meet the customer where they are. Today that means at their remote workplace. Those who can innovate will thrive,” said Cindy Squires, IWPA’s executive director. “We’re especially proud of this year’s publication, which provides insight on how suppliers and end users are navigating this health crisis while highlighting the unique ways luxurious woods from around the world are being incorporated by the architecture and design community. We are also excited that this year’s magazine is paired for the first time with an enhanced digital edition of International Wood that includes even more exciting interactive content as well as special digital advertisements that connect readers more directly with the companies that make our magazine possible.”
Reaching more than 20,000 decision makers involved in the specification, manufacture, import and distribution of wood products in North America, the 2020 edition of International Wood Magazine & Buyers Guide is designed to serve as a helpful resource for readers. Articles contain Source Boxes that allow woodworkers and specifiers to immediately learn more about the highlighted species. Readers can then turn to the industry-standard buyers guide, which directly connects specifiers with suppliers that can help them source the most beautiful and highest performing wood products from around the world.
In one article, “How Covid-19 Has Affected Wood Products Supply Chains,” IW 2020 does a deep dive into Malaysia’s response to Covid-19 and the state of its timber industry. The country’s response strategy centered on its 6R recovery plan–Resolve, Resilience, Restart, Recovery, Revitalize and Reform.
"Even in the face of a global crisis, we are pleased to share the stories of the many ways designers and architects continue use of breathtaking natural woods," IWPA President Hugh Reitz said. "This beautiful magazine remains a critical tool used by IWPA to advance our mission: to build acceptance and demand in North America for globally-sourced wood products from sustainably managed forests. We are proud to share it with our broad audience." See www.IWPAwood.org
