‘Twas the week before Christmas and all through the land
Not a product was flowing, not even a nightstand.
Containers were backed up from here to Shenzen,
And orders were coming. but no one knew when.
Consumers were locked up and masked in their homes,
Bemoaning their sofa for its saggy old foam.
Mom on her cellphone and dad on his laptop
Were booting up quickly and ready to shop,
When suddenly the WiFi, it died without sound!
They both cursed quite loudly as if bit by a hound.
Away to the car they started to dash,
Pausing just briefly to each grab a mask.
The car started quickly, and off did they drive
In search of a store that was open past five.
When what did they see as they sped down the street
But a furniture store offering delivery tout de suite.
With an RSA’s welcome they were soon on the floor,
Eyeing each product that they could afford:
A sofa, a table, a chair and recliner,
All for no payments until they retired.
So up to the checkout the pair quickly flew,
In hopes that their home would soon look like new.
The RSA smiled, his face beaming brightly;
His week would be made if he just closed this rightly.
He spoke not a word but wrote up the order,
Pausing a moment for a quick gulp of water.
Their gaze froze quite briefly as they scanned the sell sheet,
A quick nervous glance and a shuffle of feet.
Excuse me, they said, with a catch in their voice,
That date for delivery it isn’t our choice.
We’re willing to wait maybe six weeks or eight;
But April or May, well, that’s just too late.
This story it ends with consumers quite merry;
A quick thinking manager found goods he could hurry.
He heard them call back as they walked into the night,
“Happy holidays to you, and to your staff a good night!”
And to all of you have a healthy and joyous holiday season from all of us at Furniture Today.
