Wood Village awards Opportunity Scholarships - Pamplin Media Group

Wood Village awards scholarships totaling $6,500. The recipients are Maria Hernandez Angel, Diana Prychyna, Catherine Hernandez-Corchado and Rebecca Raymond.

The scholarships were established to help fund and assist students in Wood Village to achieve their dreams. This scholarship was made available to recent high school graduates or GED recipients who live in Wood Village and had plans to further their education at a university or college.

Maria Hernandez Angel, who received a scholarship valued at $2,000, has always wanted to help people in the community and wants a career in the medical field. She is starting at Portland Community College this fall with the goal of becoming a nurse assistant to start her career. She hopes to grow in her medical career in the future.

Diana Prychyna, who received a scholarship valued at $2,000, is also pursuing a career in the medical field. She will attend Portland State University this fall to pursue a degree in public health with the goal of attending medical school to become a physician. She has has been working two jobs to help support her goal of becoming a physician.

Catherine Hernandez-Corchado, wh's scholarhip was valued at $1,250, has had a life-long goal of going to college, and she will attend the University of Portland this fall to pursue a degree in marketing with the goal of becoming a marketing manager. She started her college course work early during the last two years of high school.

Rebecca Raymond, who's scholarship was valued at $1,250, has an interest in forensics and will attend Mt. Hood Community College this fall to get a degree in criminal justice. She will transfer to Western Oregon University to complete her bachelor's degree.
