WISCONSIN RAPIDS - A second Wood County resident has died from coronavirus complications, county health officials reported Saturday.
The resident had underlying health conditions. Additional identifying details about the individual were not released.
Because of a recent increase in cases in the area, the Wood County Health Department said contact tracing and testing has increased.
As of Sunday, 291 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed in the county. Overall, there had been 60,554 confirmed cases statewide as of Sunday.
The health department reminded residents to practice social distancing when around others.
The first coronavirus-related death in Wood County was reported May 22 when a man in his 30s with underlying health conditions died “of complications surrounding the coronavirus,” the Wood County Health Department said.
