A much-loved father, grandfather and son, Jerry Donald Wood Sr., 67, of Foley, AL, has joined our loving Creator as he peacefully passed away on July 6, 2020, at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley, Alabama with family present. He was born April 7, 1953, in Panama City, Panama, to Emilia and Jerry Wood. Surviving are his mother, Emilia (Aponte) Chase of Foley, AL; sister, Francia Wiggins of Foley, AL; aunt, Royette Hack of Pensacola, FL; uncle, Aubrey Wood of Lauderdale, MS; two sons, Michael Wood of Jacksonville, FL; and Jerry Donald Wood Jr “JD” of Miami, FL; two daughter-in-laws, Amanda (Pedersen) Wood of Jacksonville, FL; and Sarah (Cates) Wood of Miami, FL; one grandson, Jackson, three granddaughters, Morgan, Addison & Skylar; one niece, Natasha Wiggins of Foley, AL; one nephew, Malcolm Wiggins of Foley, AL. In heaven, Jerry will meet his father, Jerry Wood and stepfather, Hallis Chase. Jerry was a resident of Foley where he lived since 1977. Jerry was a long-time employee at Electric Membership Cooperative (EMC) until his medical retirement due to complications from rheumatoid arthritis. Jerry battled debilitating rheumatoid arthritis for most of his life. His rheumatoid arthritis severely limited his abilities towards the end of his life but he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
